If you’ve ever wanted to express yourself artistically but you just don’t know how, then we’ve got the perfect event for you!

Paintbrushes for Patriotism is an instructional paint class at Bottle & Bottega in Glen Ellyn where you will create a 4th of July-inspired masterpiece that is yours to take home and proudly display! And, the added bonus is that the class is a fundraiser for Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans.  Class fee of $35 includes light breakfast*, refreshments, paint supplies (including 11” x 14” canvas), and step-by-step painting instruction -- $15 will go directly towards Midwest Shelter!

Paintbrushes for Patriotism is on June 28 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. REGISTER BY JUNE 20. Open to all (no painting experience needed) and you do not need to be a veteran or VFW Post member. EVERYONE is welcome!

(*) Bottle & Bottega is B.Y.O.B so feel free to make your juice a mimosa or add a splash to that coffee!

The VFW State Department and District 19 advisory committee formed during our restructuring phase has recommended that the Post membership approve the renewal of our liquor licenses before we file for them. In accordance with the committee’s advisement, we will seek membership approval of both state and county licensing requirements at the next Post meeting on June 9, 2015. Therefore, the canteen will be closed until our liquor licenses have been renewed. We’ll continue with Post events, such as the Father’s Day Classic Car Show, but will not be serving alcohol. Burgers & Beer nights will be postponed until the canteen is reopened. Members of the Post, Ladies Auxiliary, and Men’s Auxiliary will continue to hold their monthly meetings at the Post.
