The fundamental difference between us and other veterans’ organizations—and one in which we take great pride—is our eligibility qualifications. To be eligible for VFW membership, you must meet these three prerequisites: (1) You must be a US citizen or a US national; (2) You must have an honorable discharge from the US Armed Forces; and (3) You have earned a campaign or service medal for overseas service, or served at least 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days in Korea anytime since 1949, or received hostile-fire or imminent-danger pay. She Serves is an outreach of the VFW that honors the service and sacrifices of She-Serves-2women veterans and unites them in sisterhood. If you're a woman who has served in hostile territory, you're eligible for VFW support, resources and discounts. Learn more about the benefits and perks you're entitled to as a female veteran.

The Men's Auxiliary of VFW Post 2164 actively supports the veteran assistance programs and community activities of the Post. Wherever and whenever the Post needs help, our men are ready to lend a hand. We also host our events that help us fundraise for causes that we feel help veterans and other members of our local communities. We are a diverse group of individuals with a common thread of having a parent, spouse or sibling who served in harm’s way. Some of the men in the Auxiliary are also veterans but their military service was not in a place or time to qualify for membership in the VFW.

Our Pancake Breakfasts and other events help us support a wide range of organizations that include the Lowell Elementary School in Wheaton, Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans in Wheaton, cancer walks, SIDS research, and local school events. The Auxiliary is also able at times to provide financial aid to both members and non members. LEARN MORE

As Auxiliary members we are active partners supporting the centerpiece program of the VFW National Military Services (NMS) program that covers Military Assistance Program (MAP), Operation Uplink, and Unmet Needs. The NMS program is one way to offer support and boost morale of our military service members and their families. The Auxiliary Veterans and Family Support Program works closely with the NMS to meet the needs of both aging veterans and those returning from current conflicts. It also highlights our Buddy Poppy and VFW National Home for Children programs.
As an Auxiliary member, your voice can be heard on Capitol Hill and at state or local governments. Your voice represents all veterans. The VFW’s Washington office has been ranked among the top lobbying groups on Capitol Hill.
